Sensitive help for women grappling with substance use, depression, anxiety, relationships, sexuality, parenting, etc.
Our co-founder, Dr. Lori Washton, devotes a significant portion of her clinical practice to helping women resolve problems with substance use and a wide range of other behavioral health issues and dilemmas. Dr. Washton’s clients benefit from her compassion, insight, and nuanced understanding of the extraordinary pressures that women face in their complex and frequently conflicting roles as partners, parents, and professionals. In response to these stressors, some women find themselves drinking a bottle or more of wine in the evening to wash away the remains of yet another stressful day. Others become depressed and feel increasingly like a shadow of their former selves– whether or not they have been drinking excessively. Still others become increasingly anxious, distractible, and unable to keep up with important tasks at work and/or at home. Whatever issues may lead a woman to seek professional help, Dr. Washton can provide a comprehensive assessment and offer recommendations for a sensible path forward that meets that client’s individual needs.
Dr. Washton offers individual therapy sessions, by appointment, during daytime and evening hours. The frequency of sessions and overall length of treatment is determined by what is needed and what is practical in terms of time commitment and cost.
Womens Therapy Group
Dr. Washton leads a weekly Womens Therapy Group that can serve as stand-alone treatment or as a supplement individual therapy provided by either Dr. Washton or other practitioners in the community. This group provides a safe supportive environment for women to address a variety of problems. Issues and goals may be different for each member, but the emphasis is to achieve a greater understanding of how certain thoughts and feelings drive unwanted problem behaviors and relationship dynamics; and, how to acquire better coping and problem solving skills to achieve personally-defined goals and enhance overall life satisfaction.
